Serbian basketball players, reigning European champions, qualified in pain for the quarter-finals of Euro-2023, defeating Great Britain 66 to 60 in the play-offs, Tuesday evening in Ljubljana.
For a place in the semi-finals, Marina Maljkovic’s players will challenge Belgium on Thursday (3:00 p.m.), bronze medalist at the previous Euro and one of the two undefeated teams – with France – in the tournament. The loser of the quarter between Serbia and Belgium will have to win one or even two classification matches to have a chance to play the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
In the other play-off played Tuesday in Slovenia, Germany climbed for the first time since 1997 in the quarter-finals of a Euro, dominating Slovakia 79 to 69.
