Serhou Guirassy was one of the top performers at VfB Stuttgart last season. In the future, he will be hunting for goals for Borussia Dortmund.

After defender Waldemar Anton, striker Serhou Guirassy is now moving from VfB Stuttgart to Borussia Dortmund. BVB announced this on Thursday. Guirassy has signed a contract that runs until June 30, 2028.

“We aim to deliver top performances in the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup, the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup and to achieve our ambitious goals. To do this, we need first-class options in all positions,” BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl is quoted as saying on the club’s website. “Serhou is an extremely dangerous and complete striker who will strengthen us and our squad with his qualities. We are very pleased that, following the latest examinations, he will be pulling on the BVB jersey in the foreseeable future and going hunting for goals for us.”

There had previously been a stir about the impending transfer – Guirassy had failed the medical check in Dortmund, left again, and the transfer was in danger of falling through. But after the health issues were clarified, nothing stood in the way of the personnel decision. Guirassy will now “first complete an individual training program for a few weeks and, according to the doctors’ assessments, will be fit for action in the summer.”

In a statement from VfB Stuttgart, Guirassy said: “I had the best two years of my career here.” On social media, he thanked the Stuttgart fans for their support and described the decision to leave the club as “probably the hardest” of his career so far.

The 28-year-old came to Stuttgart on loan from the French club Stade Rennes in the summer of 2022, but was then signed permanently the following year. In the past season, Guirassy was one of the Swabians’ top performers. In 2023/24, Guirassy scored 30 goals in 30 competitive matches for VfB. Now he will be hunting for goals for BVB.
