Villupuram: In Villupuram district, 65 people who were involved in ongoing criminal activities were jailed last year under preventive detention and gangsterism.

In Villupuram district, the police are registering cases and arresting people who are involved in sand smuggling, sale of liquor and out-of-state liquor, smuggling, serial sex crimes, selling and smuggling drugs.

Following these crimes, the persons involved are arrested and jailed under the Gangster Act, Detention Act.

According to this, last year in Villupuram district 18 people were arrested under Detention Act, 39 people under Gangster Act, 5 sex offenders, 3 under drug detention and 65 people were arrested and imprisoned.
