Serious accident on the A2: fog caused poor visibility in 5 minutes

by time news

On Saturday evening, fog made it difficult for a 61-year-old man from the Hermagor district to see who was driving his car on the A2 southern autobahn between Villach and Arnoldstein. For this reason, he reduced his driving speed shortly before the Bärenbrücke and changed lanes.

Rear-end collision on the freeway

As a result, there was a collision with a 28-year-old driver from the Hermagor district, who hit him from behind. As a result, the 61-year-old’s car was thrown against the central guard rail and then came to a standstill on the roof. The man was seriously injured. The driver involved also suffered minor injuries. Both men were taken to the LKH Villach.

A second rear-end collision followed

At the same time, there was also a rear-end collision in the second lane. Luckily nobody was injured. However, the motorway had to be closed in the direction of Italy until around 7.50 p.m. due to the recording of the accident. Volunteer fire departments in Arnoldstein and Gödersdorf and the main fire station in Villach were deployed.
