New Delhi: Women footballers have made serious allegations against All India Football Federation (AIFF) executive committee member Deepak Sharma. According to the complaint given to the AIFF by two female players of Himachal Pradesh-based Khad FC, Deepak was beaten up in his hotel room while he was drunk. They have also filed a complaint with the Goa Football Association.

Deepak is the General Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Football Association and the Deputy Chairman of the AIFF Competition Committee. The incident took place in a hotel room in Goa on Thursday during the ongoing Indian Women’s League in Goa. The footballers alleged that he was drunk when the incident took place and was drunk in front of them while traveling from Himachal Pradesh to Goa.

After the incident, Nandita, wife of Deepak Sharma and manager of the club, came and misbehaved with them, one of the young women responded to the national media. They also stated that they are under pressure to withdraw the complaint.

Meanwhile Union Minister Anurag Thakur responded that the matter has been taken seriously by the National Sports Ministry and AIFF has been instructed to take swift action in the incident.
