Dhe German Tennis Association (DTB) has to deal with serious allegations against one of its executives. A former tennis pro contacted the association and accused the official of sexual and physical violence. The attacks are said to have been around two decades ago. The DTB is said to have first become aware of it in February last year and initiated an internal investigation a few months later.
The law firm entrusted with this, specializing in such and similar cases, completed its processing of this case in March and presented the result to the DTB. “The investigation comes to the conclusion that the allegation of misconduct cannot be proven with certainty,” summarizes a statement from the tennis association. Allegations going beyond this were not the subject of the investigation.
In its statement to FAZ information, the DTB confirmed that the accused was a member of the six-member executive committee. The official is retiring from office until further notice. The DTB left unanswered the question from the FAZ as to whether he decided to do so of his own free will or was asked to do so by his colleagues in the presidency.
