Serrungarina, after 4 days the water becomes drinkable again

by time news

The water emergency has ended in Colli al Metauro, where last Thursday the mayor Pietro Briganti had issued an ordinance to prohibit human consumption of water from the public aqueduct in the historic center of Serrungarina and surrounding areas, in the Bargni area and in via Tomba, due to the detected presence of escherichia coli and coliform bacteria, primary indicators of contamination with bird and mammal feces. Yesterday afternoon the ban was revoked and tap water can once again be used for drinking and washing fruit and vegetables to be eaten raw.

“After the remediation by Marche Multiservizi of the Bargni reservoir that supplies the three areas in question – explains the municipal councilor for heritage, Marco Bargnesi – a new water sample was taken at the sampling point in Piazza Serafini in Serrungarina and today (yesterday, ed.) we received the communication that the analyses carried out by the Prevention Department of Ast, Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service, revealed full compliance of the water values. For this reason, Mayor Briganti was able to issue the ordinance to revoke the urgent measure he had adopted on September 12”. After four days of inconvenience, therefore, the situation for the approximately 250 citizens who live in Serrungarina, Bargni and via Tomba has returned to normal.
