Serum has announced that it has stopped production of the Covshield vaccine due to insufficient demand.

Vaccination against corona spread in India began in January last year, with Bharat Biotech’s Kovacsin and Serum India’s Govshield being vaccinated. More than 187 crore corona vaccines have been distributed to the public across the country so far.

In this situation, Adar Poonawala, the chairman of the serum company, has said that Covshield has stopped production as millions of vaccines are in stock without being sold. He was speaking at an event organized on behalf of the Times.

“We currently have a large stock of unsold corona vaccines due to the low number of people being vaccinated. 20 crore vaccines are in stock. Not sure what to make of them. I have been told to stop production as it will expire. As a result, we stopped producing the vaccine in December last year, ”he said.
