BOLZANO. Scalare the north wall of the Einserkofel (Top One), the north face of the Zwölferkofel (Toni’s Peak) and the north face of the Great Peak of Lavaredo in less than 24 hours, walking along the paths to and from the individual walls. This is the feat accomplished by the South Tyrolean mountaineer Simon Gietl and from the Swiss mountaineer Dani ArnoldThe project, called “SextenDoloExtrem”started from Cima Una at four in the morning. Gietl and Arnold took three hours and thirty-eight minutes to cover the 800-meter long line through the “Via della Gioventù”.

After descending via the normal route and walking to the start of the north face of Croda dei Toni, the two climbers ascended the 700-meter-high Schranzhofer route in a record time of two hours and fifty-eight minutes. Returning via the normal route and walking to the north face of Cima Grande di Lavaredo, Gietl and Arnold reached the summit via the 550-meter-high Comici route after two hours and fifty-four minutes, thus completing the project. By 7:00 p.m., all three faces had been climbed, far exceeding the times initially planned.

The tour – a note informs – continued along the normal route to the foot of the Cima Grande, through the Paternsattel saddle to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo refuge and to the end of the valley floor in Val Fiscalina Sesto, where after another 10.5 kilometers and two hours and fifty-six minutes the friends awaited the two extreme athletes with a warm welcome. Gietl and Arnold covered a total of almost 30 kilometers, about 4,700 meters of ascent and descent and 75 rope pitches up to the seventh difficulty level.
