Setien officially named at the helm of Villarreal

Quique Setien, free since leaving FC Barcelona on August 17, 2020, finds a bench in La Liga.

After two years without a club, Quique Setien is making a comeback in Spain. Sacked by FC Barcelona after the 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich on August 17, 2020, the former midfielder had since been free of any contract.

Quique Setien has committed to Villarreal for the end of the current campaign and next season. He replaces Unai Emery, who left for Aston Villa.

Ramiro Amarelle and Fran Soto complete the staff of the 64-year-old coach. The former coach of Betis Seville and Barça will lead his first training session this Wednesday morning, before being presented to the press.
