Settat: Launch and inauguration of several development projects

Thus, the Governor of the Province of Settat, Ibrahim Abouzaid, chaired the inauguration and launching ceremonies of several projects aimed mainly at supporting the health sector, bringing health services closer to rural residents, improving maternal and child health, opening up rural areas, strengthening basic infrastructure, combating school dropout and providing drinking water to rural populations.

In this context, in the commune of Ras El Ain Chaouia, a maternity home built by the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) was inaugurated. Built in partnership with the commune of Ras El Ain Chaouia, the provincial health delegation and the association “Nour wa El-Amal”, this structure which extends over an area of ​​300 square meters, required a budgetary envelope of more than 1.4 million dirhams.

This structure intervenes to raise the rate of deliveries in controlled health environments and to provide the local population with reception and accommodation structures for pregnant women before and after childbirth, as well as to combat maternal deaths in rural areas of the province of Settat.

In the same municipality, the foundation stone of a level II urban health center was laid. With an estimated cost of 1,898,994.00 dirhams, this project, which will cover an area of ​​500 square meters, is part of the program to reduce territorial and social disparities in rural areas.

In the city of Ben Ahmed, the governor of the province chaired, with the delegation that accompanied him, the ceremony of launching the construction works of a women’s education and training center on an area of ​​314 square meters. The project is financed by the INDH with an envelope of approximately 1,452,300.00 dirhams.

The centre will include multidisciplinary rooms, a reading room, sewing and craft workshops, a computer room and sanitary facilities.

Mr. Abouzaid also chaired the launch of construction work on a retirement home with a capacity of 40 beds. With an estimated cost of 2,412,324.00 dirhams, this home will cover an area of ​​820 square meters. This project is part of the INDH’s support program for people in precarious situations.

In order to open up the municipalities of Oulad Amrane and Sidi Zahabi, whose population is estimated at 25,000 inhabitants, work to widen and strengthen provincial road 3612 has been launched. For this project aimed at improving services and ensuring the flow of road traffic, a budget of 16,559,793.00 dirhams has been allocated.

As part of the program for the rehabilitation of basic infrastructure in the least equipped rural areas, the drinking water supply project for 12 municipalities was launched. These are the municipalities of Sidi Zahabi, Ain Dorbane Lhalla, Oulad Amrane, Laqraqra, Oulad Bouali Nouaja, Oulad Sghir, Kisser, Bni Yagrine, Oulad Fares El Halla, M’garto, Machraa Ben Abbou and Sidi Ahmed El Khadir.

This project aims to reduce territorial and social disparities in rural areas and to facilitate access to basic services, with an allocated budget of 6.75 million dirhams.

In the commune of Loulad, the laying of the first stone for the construction of a boarding school at the Lycée Laayoune took place. This project is part of the program aimed at promoting the human development of future generations. It will be financed by the INDH for an amount of 4,897,726.00 dirhams.

To support the region’s road infrastructure, the governor also chaired the launch of works to widen and strengthen provincial road 3619 between Ras El Ain and Mrizig, as well as works to widen and strengthen provincial road 3636 linking Oulad Sghir to Ryma. The completion of these two road projects will cost approximately 38 million dirhams.

On the other hand, in the commune of Kisser, the foundation stone of the Education and Training Center for Women was laid. With an area of ​​325 square meters, the project is financed by the INDH for an amount of 1,242,887.00 dirhams.

On this occasion, Noureddine Bensaid from the social action division at the prefecture of Settat, told M24, the continuous news channel of MAP, that these are 13 infrastructure projects relating in particular to drinking water in conditions of water stress and recurrent drought, noting that among these projects, 4 of them concern 12 rural municipalities.

In this regard, he stressed that these four projects involve the construction of public water points and wells equipped with submersible pumps and water tanks, as well as two tanker trucks for regions that have a very deep water table and do not have sufficient water flow.

Mr. Bensaid added that among the projects, 4 others aim to support vulnerable people, including two projects for women and girls, and two others for the elderly and the homeless, in the cities of El Borouj and Ben Ahmed.

He also indicated that on this occasion, 15 school transport vehicles were distributed to improve schooling conditions in rural areas, as well as 15 ambulances to bring health services closer to the population.
