Seur Now will receive public funds from the Moves Fleets program, aimed at promoting the decarbonisation of the transport sector in Spain, and, as part of this initiative, it will promote electrification projects for light vehicle fleets.

The company has explained in a press release that its participation in the Moves Fleets programfunded by the European Union – NextGeneration EU within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain, is aligned with its objective of becoming “the most sustainable international company in the sector”.

Seur, dedicated to the shipping and transport of parcels and couriers, has been developing a sustainability strategy since 2013 in which all areas are involved and which has effective measures to combat climate change, as indicated.

Among these measures, by the hand of Geopost – the group to which the company belongs – is the delivery with low-emission vehicles in 64 Spanish cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants by 2025.

According to Seur estimates, this will imply a reduction of around 85% of CO2 emissions in these cities and will have a direct impact on 17 million inhabitants throughout Spain.

Seur’s Director of People and Sustainability, Itxaso Larrañaga, stated that participating in the Moves Fleets project is “one more step towards neutralizing emissions” generated by the company’s operations.

“The sustainability of the planet is as important as our business model and, therefore, we are committed to combining an innovative model based on excellence with being respectful of the environment,” he declared.

As a beneficiary of the Moves Flotas funds, Seur Now will expand its fleet of vehicles and, in addition, will vinyl them with the logo of the program.

Another of the planned actions is a specific plan to improve efficiency in driving the electric vehicle distribution fleet, in which nearly 200 drivers will participate.

“It is about training in technical aspects, as well as in improving the driving of our electric vehicles, with the aim of reducing both pollution and energy consumption”, explained the director of Seur Now, Marc Bayo.

Currently, Seur has 13% of the ecological fleet, a figure that it expects to increase by 2030, since it will incorporate 3,000 electric vehicles.

In addition, it has different ‘out of home’ solutions (away from home) such as, for example, the Pickup network, which integrates more than 4,000 points, between convenience stores and ticket offices, where customers can pick up, send or return their packages .

The company maintains that in this way it also offers a sustainable solution for the environment, by “reducing CO2 emissions associated with last-mile services by 63%”.

Along these lines, Geopost has received certification from the Science Based Target Initiative for its decarbonization itinerary in its goal of reaching zero net emissions by 2040, a goal shared by Seur in Spain.

Also in collaboration with Geopost, Seur has deployed an initiative in Madrid to measure air quality with sensors installed in delivery vehicles, Pickup stores and urban ‘hubs’ that, with ‘pollutrack’ laser technology, quantify in real time the quality of air particles.
