The imminent increase in the price of extra and eco-country gasoline makes it more important to know how to reduce consumption and take into account the most efficient vehicles that need less fuel per kilometer.
Since the last days of June 2024, and, in the first instance, the retail price of the extra gasoline and eco country will increase by 26 cents, going to $2.72 per gallon. Then, each month it may fluctuate a maximum of 5% more or 10% less.
Thus, for example, with the first increase of 26 cents, the cost of consumption of various types of vehicles would change as follows:
sedan type vehicle (10 gallons): Will go from a cost per tank of $24.65 to $27.25
A van (15 gallons): Will go from $37.28 to $47.51
SUV Vehicle (8 gallons): Will go from $20 to $21.68 per tank
If the first increase is 26 cents in the last days of June, starting at the end of the following month, the price of extra and eco-country gasoline will enter a band system. At most, the price may rise 5% per month or fall 10%.
For example, if the WTI pricewhich is the reference crude oil for Ecuador, becomes 30% more expensive in August, the official cost of extra and eco-country gasoline may increase 13.6 cents (5%), that is, go from $2.72 to $2.856.
If, on the other hand, the price of WTI falls by 30%, the official cost of extra and eco-country gasoline may decrease by 27.2 cents, that is, go from $2.72 to $24.48.
Each time the price of the extra and the eco country will be updated; but only a maximum of 5% up or a maximum of 10% down.
In this context, as LA HORA already published, it is important to be clear about the main keys to saving fuel consumption; but also take into account vehicles that, due to their engineering and design, are more efficient and need less fuel.
The top seven of the more efficient vehicles in fuel consumption, according to the specialized page Fayals Autos, is the following:
1.- Renault Kwid: Average mixed consumption of 19 km per liter
2.- Kia Picanto Average combined consumption of 18.7 km per liter
3.- Hyundai Grand i10: Average combined consumption of 17.6 km per liter
4.- Chevrolet Sail: Average mixed consumption of 15.85 km per liter
5.- Volkswagen Polo: Average combined consumption of 15.6 km per liter
6.- Renault Sandero: Average mixed consumption of 14.9 km per liter
7.- Renault Logan: Average mixed consumption of 14.5 km per liter
What vehicle brands consume the least gasoline in Ecuador?
According to studies and analyzes carried out by entities such as the Environmental Protection Agency of Ecuador (MAE) and the Energy Efficiency Observatory of Ecuadorsome of the brands that tend to be among the most efficient in terms of fuel consumption in Ecuador are:
Toyota: Recognized for its hybrid and internal combustion models with efficient technologies.
Hyundai: Offers a wide range of models with efficient engines and fuel-saving technologies.
Kia: Stands out for its models with low-consumption engines and aerodynamic designs.
Chevrolet: Offers models with efficient engines and fuel-saving technologies, especially in its Chevrolet Green line.
Suzuki: It is characterized by its compact and economical models in terms of fuel consumption. (J.S.)
