On Saturday, August 21, Deputy Defense Minister Dmitry Bulgakov and Governor of the Tula Region Alexei Dyumin inaugurated seven new bridges in the region. By decision of the head of the military department, Sergei Shoigu, in response to a request from local authorities, they were erected by army specialists in a short time.

“Significantly ahead of the construction schedule – from June 5 to July 20 – the personnel of the 462nd separate bridge battalion and the 299th separate road commandant battalion passed the exam for professional training and skill with honor,” Bulgakov said at the ceremony.

According to him, over the past three years in the Tula region, logistics units have handed over in the Tula region a total of 26 bridges with a total length of 1,250 running meters. These crossings provided transport links between socially significant objects and areas in 56 settlements, where almost 25 thousand people live.

Alexander Dyumin stressed that the bridges built by the military are of great importance for the residents of nearby settlements. They will also significantly reduce the time of arrival for people in distress for ambulances, fire brigades and other emergency services. “We expect that in the coming years, cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, including in building bridges, will continue,” the governor said.

Together with Dmitry Bulgakov, he launched the movement along the bridge crossing. Traditionally, the first to cross the bridge was a column of its builders – 20 units of special equipment. Then the Deputy Minister of Defense presented awards and valuable gifts to those who distinguished themselves in the construction of this facility.

Here is what is known about the new transport buildings commissioned on Saturday. In the settlements of Belevsky, Bogoroditsky, Venevsky, Plavsky, Chernsky and Shchekinsky districts of the Tula region, two battalions of the 69th separate logistics brigade of the Western Military District within the framework of a tactical and special exercise using standard means of road troops and consumables supplied by the regional government , five road and two pedestrian bridges with a total length of more than 250 running meters were erected ahead of schedule.

“As a result of the work carried out by the Ministry of Defense specialists of the military department, year-round transport links were ensured between socially significant objects and districts of the Tula region in 16 settlements where more than 4 thousand people live,” the Russian Defense Ministry informed.
