Cosmetics brand L’Occitane Korea announced that it has placed on standby an employee who leaked a nude photo of Seventeen (SVT) member Mingyu on social media.

On the 3rd, L’Occitane Korea released a statement on their official social media account, stating, “We have no excuses for the recent incident where unofficial photos related to the Asia Ambassador Campaign were posted without permission through our employee’s SNS account. We accept full responsibility for this and offer our apologies.”

They continued, “We take this matter very seriously, and we sincerely bow our heads in apology to the artist and fans who were hurt by this incident.” They explained, “The employee in question has been immediately and completely suspended from all duties, and personnel action (suspending him) has been taken.”

In addition, they said, “To prevent similar incidents from happening again, we will introduce regular training programs for all employees on the importance of copyright, portrait rights, publicity rights, and privacy rights of brand ambassador artists, and ensure that all employees thoroughly understand and comply with them.”

This controversy was sparked when a netizen, presumed to be an employee of L’Occitane Korea, posted a photo of Mingyu on his Instagram. The photo was taken when Mingyu was filming a commercial, and it became controversial because it included many revealing photos, including some of him taking off his shirt.

This netizen also wrote, “Min-gyu took up a lot of my photo album. I couldn’t erase it because I was anxious, but I think I’ll organize it now.”
