During the conversation with the President of Sri Lanka, Tamil National Federation President I. Sambandan said that there is no room for any concession in our position and we are not ready to be deceived.
He said this while commenting on the all-party meeting that will begin at 5.30 pm at the President’s Secretariat.
He continued to comment on this,
“We are starting the talks today in accordance with the call of Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe with the aim of finding a permanent political solution to the problem of the Tamil people.
A solution that has not been available for 75 years
If we are going to proceed with the talks regarding the things that the president has said, then a new constitution should be formed as per his promise.
A permanent political solution to the problem of the Tamil people should be found in the new government. It is with this aim in mind that we begin the conversation with the principal.
Our first focus is on a permanent political solution to the Tamil problem. Even though this country has completed 75 years of independence, the Tamil people have still not got their freedom.
There is no room for compromise
We have been providing all our contributions for a permanent political solution to the problem of the Tamil people since the country gained independence.
But the Tamils have not yet found a solution. We are starting talks with President Ranil Wickramasinghe with the aim of finding that solution. So there is no room for any compromise in our position. We are not ready to be fooled,” he said categorically.
