Acute symptoms of poisoning – vomiting and diarrhea – suddenly appeared in several dozen patients, whose relatives had an omelette served for dinner that upset their digestion.

At that time, hospital representatives claim that they do not yet know the cause of the poisoning, an internal investigation is currently underway.

The news portal LRT.lt contacted Saulius Tvirbutus, head of the Communication and Marketing Department of LSMU Kaunas Hospital. He confirmed that such a case had indeed occurred at the hospital, with symptoms of poisoning occurring in all three departments in the unit, but not all. About 30 people were injured, although there were significantly more of them in the hospital ward at that time.

According to S. Tvirbut, the same food was served to all patients of the unit, and only a part got sick. As a result, it cannot be claimed that the food is to blame for the incident, explained the head of the marketing department.

Food for patients in the hospital unit is prepared on site.

Currently, according to S. Tvirbuts, none of the patients at the hospital have symptoms of poisoning anymore, they are being treated for the direct illnesses that caused them to come to the hospital.

An internal investigation has been launched into the case, and the National Public Health Center has been informed about it, reports LRT.lt.
