Another drug network is also being investigated by the police, involving large seizures of cocaine and cannabis. The police have gained a better understanding of the drug market through leaks from encrypted chat programs. While cannabis is still the most common drug, cocaine has become increasingly prevalent. Last Saturday, five people suspected of drug offenses were arrested in Umeå. They are part of one of the dozen or so criminal networks that the police now point out as being responsible for the drug trade in Umeå.
– I would like to say that we have a very large drug market in Umeå, says Tomas Palmgren, head of detective work at the police in Västerbotten.
Since earlier the police are also investigating another drug network where large seizures of cocaine and cannabis were made, among other things.

Leaks from encrypted chat programs in recent years have given police a new picture of how big the market is, and although cannabis is still the most common, cocaine has become increasingly common.
– In recent weeks, we have had success in our detective work and managed to arrest a large number of people suspected of serious drug and weapons offences, says Thomas Palmgren.
