Events that occurred at the Oak Hammock K-8 school in Port St. Lucie, in the state of Florida, began to worry the community after becoming the center of an investigation following an incident where gummies with marijuana were consumed by students.

Local media reported that St. Lucie County police discovered that ten seventh graders ingested these gummies, resulting in the hospitalization of five of them.

Dr. David Mandelblum, from Soma Medical Center, warned about the dangers of marijuana use in young people: “Immediately, they will have feelings of discomfort, drowsiness, desire to sleep, they cannot concentrate and they would not be able to study.”

Later, one of the students involved in the event commented, visibly affected, that she did not know what she was consuming, in addition to appearing upset after her suspension.

“I feel like I shouldn’t have been suspended for something I didn’t know I was ingesting.”were his words.

In fact, it is worth mentioning that this same student, who consumed three gummies offered by a classmate, was one of the five minors who were transferred to a hospital in this region of Florida.

“I would like to see some legal action against the student who distributed drugs at school,” said the victim’s mother.

Due to all this problem, Mandelblum urged parents throughout the region to take rigorous precautions to avoid the same consequences with their children.

At this time, St. Lucie security forces are further investigating the situation, so new details are expected in the coming hours.

It is unknown if any student will have to face justice after this event.
