Several thousand homes were thus deprived of electricity on Sunday in Drôme and Ardèche, Enedis announced to AFP. “Since 2 p.m., we have seen a spike in incidents which have deprived several thousand homes of electricity in the departments of Drôme and Ardèche,” said Enedis, confirming information from the Dauphine Libere. These departments are part of the 17 concerned Sunday afternoon by a yellow vigilance to the violent winds maintained until midnight.

According to the Ardèche weather services, Météo-France recorded a gust of 132 km / h at the Croix Millet station, not far from the town of La Souche, in the Monts d’Ardèche Natural Park. Enedis, which had planned a reinforced system, has dispatched 50 technicians to the field and is awaiting reinforcements to restore power to the affected areas, announced the manager of the electricity distribution network, calling on the general public to be vigilant. and in particular not to approach cables that have fallen on the roads.

Many firefighter interventions

Firefighters from Drôme and Ardèche said they carried out numerous interventions, mainly following falling trees that disrupted traffic and damaged power and telecom lines.

In the Rhône, firefighters confirmed to AFP the death of a 75-year-old man who was in a parked vehicle on which a tree fell, without however being able to confirm that this fall was due in the wind. For its part, the City of Lyon closed its large parks in the afternoon due to gusts of up to 70 km / h.
