/ The American CBSNEWS network reported on Sunday that at least 89 people were killed in the United States due to violent snowstorms and severe frost waves that hit various parts of the country during the past week.
The network reported that 25 people were killed in Tennessee, and at least 16 people in Oregon, 3 of whom were killed when a tree fell on their car.
Deaths have also been reported in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Washington, Kentucky, Wisconsin, New York and New Jersey.
On the West Coast, Oregon remains in a state of emergency after deadly ice storms swept through the region, leaving more than 45,000 people without power, and other power outages were reported in Pennsylvania, California, New Mexico and Indiana.
Meteorologists say the snowstorm and cold snap are expected to continue into early next week.
