Severe Weather Halts Boston College/Holy Cross Football Game: Both Teams Directed to Locker Rooms

by time news

Both teams have been directed to return to their respective locker rooms as severe weather halted the Boston College/Holy Cross game at Alumni Stadium. Play has been suspended due to lightning detected within 10 miles of the stadium. Officials made the decision to prioritize the safety of the players and spectators.

The severe weather update was issued at 3:20 p.m., stating that both teams should seek shelter in their respective locker rooms until further notice. Fans and spectators were also advised to take shelter in designated locations on campus, including Conte Forum, Connell Recreation Center, Levels 2 & 3 of Beacon Street Parking Garage, The Fish Field House, The Commonwealth Avenue Parking Garage, and Lower Dining Hall/Corcoran Common.

In addition, tailgating throughout the designated areas on campus, including the Commonwealth and Beacon garages where people were sheltering in place, will be shut down at 5 p.m. The radar continues to show lightning in the Alumni Stadium area, and play will not resume before 5 p.m.

The stadium authorities have assured individuals seeking shelter that they will be permitted to re-enter the stadium with their mobile tickets once the severe weather is no longer within a 10-mile radius of Alumni Stadium. They have also requested everyone to follow the directions of the Alumni Stadium event staff for their safety.

Further information and updates will be provided closer to the scheduled resumption time. The safety of all players, staff, and attendees remains the top priority.
