We oppose the decision of the Seville City Council to withdraw the cultural project for Naves de Calatrava.
From the Andalusian Association of Dance Professionals We want to show complete confusion and indifference in the decision of those Seville City Council to give the factories located on Calle Calatrava, until now owned by them Institute of Culture and Arts of Seville (ICAS), a new depot for police vehicles. This decision, approved last Friday by the Government Council, means paralyzing and opposing what for years has been one of the most important initiatives for the promotion of art and creativity in our city.
On March 28, 2023, the Seville City Council presented the municipal project for Calatrava boatslocated next to the Alameda Theatre and that for a year they moved to the Junta de Andalucía from the house Flamenco Ballet of Andalusia. After several years of defining and designing the project for these Naves, in collaboration with all the cultural fabric of the city of Seville, Naves de Calatrava will become center for creativity, experimentation and research around methods of movementa meeting point of knowledge and thought with dance, an art center that goes beyond exhibition and dissemination.
