The Professional Union of Colleges of Engineers, UPCI, and the Portuguese Order of Engineers will hold the I Iberian Meeting of Young Engineers in Seville (Spain) on October 26 and 27. The event will receive almost a thousand junior or senior engineers from the specialties of Roads, Industrial, Naval, Aeronautical, Telecommunications, Forestry, Mining, ICAI or Agronomists from the Iberian Peninsula.
Through this initiative, attendees will enjoy two days of keynote lectures on Artificial Intelligence, Circular Economy, Industry 4.0, team competitions, and visits to companies in and around Seville, such as Renault or Heineken, or the Advanced Center for Aerospace Technology .
The value of engineering, qualifying master’s level training and the role of professional colleges will be highlighted. Spain has 700,000 Master’s level engineers who represent a profession with an employability rate above 98%.
Although Spanish engineers enjoy great prestige, the Master’s degree will boost the capacity of engineering companies and the development of ecological and digital transition projects. Likewise, aspects such as the salaries of the profession will be discussed, with remunerations 30% higher than the country’s average, although it has gone through a period of stagnation in recent decades.
The Congress will facilitate the connection between attendees with other engineers from both Spain and Portugal and will be an opportunity for companies and consultants, who will be able to see future engineers from Spain and Portugal for two days.
Apart from being the center of logistics events, Seville stands out for its port activity. Among the latest activities carried out by the Seville Port Authority, it is worth mentioning the maintenance dredging of the Guadalquivir Eurovía for the 2023 campaign. Thanks to this operation, the enclave maintains navigation levels in twelve sections of the canal, complying with the limits depth authorized while maintaining the security requirements for access to Seville from the sea.
