Broken windows, tables and chairs overturned… This Friday morning, the team at Évariste-Galois middle school in Sevran had the very bad surprise to discover that the establishment had been the target of acts of vandalism during the night from Thursday to Friday.

“I strongly condemn the damage committed”, reacted Stéphane Troussel (PS), the president of the departmental council of Seine-Saint-Denis – the community in charge of the management and construction of colleges — in a message published on the social network Facebook. The elected official went there this Friday with the mayor of the town and the prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis. The intruders – if indeed there are several – have not been identified.

“There was really a lot of damage, a desire to ransack, especially on the room hosting the Segpa section and the multipurpose room, we describe to the departmental council. Our teams have been working since this morning to ensure that the college can reopen on Tuesday (Editor’s note: Monday is a public holiday due to Pentecost)”. The community has filed a handrail. She had not yet assessed the amount of damage this Friday afternoon.

“The principal for his part filed a complaint for intrusion”, details the Directorate of Departmental Services of National Education (DSDEN), which also went on site this Friday to meet the teams. The establishment remained closed for the day on the advice of the national police. “The mobile security teams will be called upon to accompany the teams”, specifies the DSDEN.
