by time news

A large police force had been deployed on Saturday evening in the city of Beaudottes in Sevran (Seine-Saint-Denis) for fear of urban violence. A few hours earlier, a man driving a stolen van was fatally shot by a police officer from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) of Aulnay-sous-Bois, a neighboring town.

In fact, from 7 p.m., the police came under firework mortars. Three people were arrested in a car on rue Dumont-d’Urvill. The driver is suspected of having thrown projectiles at police officers, the two passengers are accused of rebellion.

Fireworks and projectile jets

The rest of the night was of the same ilk. Trash fires, a few burnt cars, mortar fire and projectile throwing punctuated the first part of the night, said a police source. Around 9 p.m., the police officers of a CRS and the canine brigade of Val-de-Marne were thus targeted by various projectiles by around thirty individuals armed with sticks and iron bars. Groups of young people taunted the police by trying to lure them into ambushes.

Tensions lasted for about an hour, according to the same source. Then the situation returned to calm. Firefighters were also on the scene. They weren’t taken to task. “There were no injuries,” continues the police source.

The police force has been lifted. This morning, a few patrols were still circulating in the neighborhood but it was no longer squared by the numerous police and gendarmerie reinforcements dispatched for the night, where several security companies were on duty.

In total, “ten people were arrested and placed in police custody, between the afternoon and the night, for acts of urban violence”, specifies the parquet floor of Bobigny this Sunday afternoon. The defendants are suspected of throwing projectiles at the police, mortar fire and arson.

The investigation continues

At the same time, the investigation is continuing to determine the exact circumstances of the death of the 32-year-old father. He succumbed to his injuries after being shot by a police officer. The General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) is seized of the file.

According to the first elements of the investigation, the agents of the anti-crime brigade of Aulnay-sous-Bois were alerted to the theft of a van carrying packages, around the city of Gros-Saule, in Aulnay-sous- Wood. The vehicle was spotted, “stopped at a red light, rue Suzanne Lenglen, in Aulnay-sous-Bois”, details the Bobigny prosecution this Sunday afternoon, in a press release.

The police are trying to check. One of them walks towards the van, “approaches up to the driver’s window and signals himself”, assures the Bobigny prosecution. The “van suddenly restarts” and, “for reasons that have yet to be determined, the policeman uses his weapon”.

A single shot

The driver is hit. The vehicle drove a few hundred meters, hit a parked car, before coming to a stop, in Sevran. The accused is then taken care of by the emergency services. He is seriously injured. His vital prognosis is engaged. He was airlifted to the hospital and a few hours later succumbed to his injuries. The man, residing in Sevran, is well known to the police.

The police officer, author of the shot, was very shocked on Saturday evening. He had been hospitalized and had not yet been able to be heard by the investigators. His colleagues were in the process of being auditioned. “The author of the shot is still hospitalized, in a state of shock, complete this Sunday, the parquet floor of Bobigny. Doctors have not yet cleared his hearing. »

“The shooting is concomitant with the restarting with a bang of the van, continues the public prosecutor. But the reasons why the policeman was led to shoot remain unknown. “The hypothesis of an” accidental shooting “is not, at this stage of the investigation, not ruled out either. Investigations are continuing to determine the precise circumstances.
