YMCA took points in the first ever elite series match at Ekeberg.
The match in the capital ended 0-0.
Fire striker Bård Finne was sent to the shower after a high foot on YMCA goalkeeper Emil Ødegaard. A VAR check meant that Finne’s yellow card was converted to red. So he had to take the difficult route across the pedestrian crossing in Ekebergveien and into the changing room after just under half an hour.
Ødegaard also had to leave the artificial grass and was sent to the emergency room, where he was patched up.
– Everything is just fine. I sewed ten stitches where I got a ten centimeter long cut. I’m not nauseous and not dizzy. Everything is good according to the conditions! says Ødegaard.

Ødegaard was replaced by 17-year-old Henri Sørlie. He got the chance as 2nd goalkeeper William Da Rocha is injured. Sørlie was thrown to the wolves and got a good story to tell at school on Monday.
The 17-year-old played a total of six games in the 3rd division as his only experience at senior level before Sunday’s baptism of fire.
Little pyro and fireworks, but still the Vålerenga ladies are the best in town
– This was fun. I think primarily of Emil, and that things are going well. When you first come in, I feel quite safe out there. I play it like a normal match, really, Sørlie told TV 2.
The debate is raging
Finne raised his foot and was first on the ball, but also put the knobs in Ødegaard’s face.
Much has already been said about the expulsion.
VIF fans stormed the field after the Mjøndalen fade: – I understand that they are pissed off
– Finne is clearly first on the ball, and the goalkeeper comes crashing into his feet long afterwards. The goalkeeper is far too late in the situation, said TV 2 expert Morten Langli.
– It’s terrible goalkeeper play. And then Bård Finne will be expelled for that? he asked further.
He was followed up by colleague Yaw Amankwah:
– A dangerous precedent can be set if it is allowed to enter in that way. That could open up even more head injuries, Amankwah said.
Turned
– I don’t think that should be a red card for Bård Finne. He pokes the ball, a lob without coming with much speed. Then the keeper comes rushing out far too late and creates the dangerous situation. I agree that it should not be red, says Jonas Grønner, former elite league player and now football expert, i The Bergen newspaper.
Primz (22) is behind the football song for the YMCA comrades: – Now we are the ones who rule the city of Oslo
Afrobeat artist Primz has created the new song for the YMCA comrades after promotion to the elite series. – The oboe was just an exercise, he says in the song.
Grønner first thought it was a red card for Finne before he turned around.
– This specific situation is fine and will always be a red card in my book when the consequence of the high foot is that it hits a head, says football expert Carl-Erik Torp to NRK.
Evenly
The sending off made the game more even than might have been expected.
Brann’s Niklas Castro was closest in the first half, but his finish was way off.
The home crowd at Ekeberg could thus cheer for points. The newly promoted club continues to impress in its elite league debut and is in 10th place after five league rounds.
Brann is in 3rd place and will take on Rosenborg in the next round. YMCA travels to Haugesund.
