The story of the children who miraculously survived in the Colombian jungle for 40 days has just added a macabre chapter of which only rumors were known: The police arrested Miller Manuel Ranoque Morales, by order of the attorney general’s office, father of the Mucutuy brothers and stepfather of the other two girls who were rescued on June 9 in “Operation Hope”. On him weighs the accusation of having committed sexual abuse of two minorsone of them with carnal access, according to the judicial authorities of the city of Florencia Caquetá, some 600 kilometers from the capital.
The information ended up confirming some of the suspicions surrounding Ranoque Morales. In fact, once they were rescued, the maternal family of the minors not only rejected their appearance in Bogotá: began to denounce him for domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Family Welfare, a state agency, went so far as to prohibit him from coming into contact with the children. Ranoque Morales had claimed a few weeks ago a millionaire compensation to Avianline Charter’s SAS., company that owns the crashed plane that carried his partner, Magdalena Mucutuy, who died in the accident, and Lesly Mucutuy (13 years old), Soleiny Mucutuy (nine years old), Tien Noriel Ronoque Mucutuy (four years old) and Cristin Neriman Ranoque Mucutuy (one year).
Statements before the prosecution
The novelistic adventures of the minors kept the country in suspense for 40 days. The rescue force found them malnourished and weak. His recovery has been carried out at the Military Hospital. “Children are still in the process of establishing rights. We are not going to expose them to any other exercise. Their history and personal life is their character,” explained Astrid Cáceres, from Family Welfare.
Ranoque Morales rejected at the time the first public accusations against him launched by the maternal family. “They want to take the children to, through the children, beg for resources, be making a mess. Because that’s the only thing they know how to do,” he told the Bogota newspaper Time. Regarding the allegations of alleged sexual abuse, she replied: “the girl herself has already clarified that I have nothing to do with it because I respect her.” But upon learning of her arrest, Maria Fatima Valencia, grandmother mother of the minors, related the fate of Ranoque Morales with the same statements made by Lesly Mucutuy before the Prosecutor’s Office: “He who laughs last laughs best, everything he said was a lie.” The grandmother had also given her testimony before the courts: “he got drunk… he made fun of my daughter“.
William Castro, indigenous governor of the Puerto Sábalo-Los Monos community, had accused Ranoque of being a violent person. “neighbors were witnesses to the beating he gave the children’s motherHe attacked her with a machete. She had tried to abuse Magdalena’s eldest daughter,” he told television.
Ranoque left that population claiming to have received threats of one of the dissident groups of the exFARC that did not accept the peace agreement.
