The YouTube channel of Ko Young-wook (48), a former member of the group ‘Rula’ who was sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a minor, has been deleted.

As of the afternoon of the 23rd, Go Young-wook’s YouTube channel ‘Go! Young-wook GoDog Days’ has disappeared. Currently, a message appears on YouTube saying, “Sorry. This page is unavailable. Please try searching with a different keyword.”

On this day, Go Young-wook wrote on X (former Twitter), “It seems like my YouTube channel got shut down overnight. I didn’t upload any harmful content just because I have a criminal record, but I wonder if YouTube can apply non-existent regulations to just one individual. I’ve already paid all the punishment under the law, so I wonder if it’s fair that some people can and others can’t?”

He continued, “I would like to thank those who subscribed to my inadequate channel and those who visited and showed interest. I would like to express my apologies and regrets to those who supported me through email. Although it was a short time, I am grateful to those who sent me so much love, and I will not forget that feeling. Stay healthy.”

Earlier, Ko Young-wook created this YouTube channel and uploaded the first video on the 5th. It contained background music, a photo of Ko Young-wook, and a picture of his dog lying down. However, Ko Young-wook does not appear, and the comment section is blocked. Ko Young-wook wrote on his social media that day, “I have lived a shameful life.” He said, “I feel like I am growing old in a pitiful way, just complaining at home, so I am starting YouTube without any particular order to escape my listless daily life.” Ko Young-wook’s first video gained popularity, surpassing 300,000 views in just 15 days since opening YouTube.

However, some netizens had a negative view of the YouTube channel of Ko Young-wook, who committed sexual crimes against minors. On the 20th, a national petition was created to block Ko Young-wook’s YouTube activities. It is known that YouTube cannot prevent a sex offender from opening a channel. However, if there are many reports or if there are problems with the content, the channel can be closed or the video can be deleted. It is presumed that Ko Young-wook’s channel was closed after numerous netizens reported it.

Meanwhile, Ko Young-wook, the ‘first celebrity to be fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet’, was arrested and indicted in January 2013 on charges of sexually assaulting and forcibly molesting three minors on four occasions between July 2010 and December 2012. After being sentenced to two years and six months in prison by the court, he served his sentence in Anyang Prison and Seoul Nambu Prison.

Go Young-wook, who debuted in 1994 with Rula’s first album ‘Roots of Reggae’, enjoyed the glory of Rula in the mid-1990s with hit songs such as ‘100th Day Meeting’, ‘No Secrets’, ‘Angel Who Lost Wings’, and ‘3! 4!’ After Rula’s disbandment in 1997, he tried to make a comeback by reuniting with Rula and forming dance duos such as ‘Player’ and ‘Shinnago’, but failed.
