Thiruvananthapuram: Cherthala SH. The Nursing Council reports that there are serious complaints from students against the College of Nursing. The students’ complaint included that the college vice-principal sexually abused them. According to the complaint, the doctors’ shoes were forcibly cleaned by the nursing students. Mathrubhumi News received a copy of the report submitted by the Nursing Council to the Health University. A total of 120 third- and fourth-year students spoke. It is learned that the Nursing Council first received a voice message that such things were happening in the college. Following this, three representatives of the Nursing Council arrived here.

Cherthala SH. Representatives of the Nursing Council met with college students on Friday and took statements from the students. The report of the Nursing Council contains the complaints made by the children then. The children have lodged a complaint against the vice-principal. The main allegation in the complaint is that the vice principal is constantly mentally and emotionally abusive. The complaint alleges sexual harassment on the part of the principal, who also asks if the two girls are gay when they walk together.

Another is cleaning hospital wards and toilets with children. The report also alleges that he washes the wash basin, wipes the floor and even forcibly cleans the doctor’s shoes. The hostel is similar to a prison, where children are not allowed to go out or spend time on holidays, and if the uniform is wrinkled, it is misinterpreted as sexual misconduct, and children are not even allowed to talk to their parents on the phone. The report was submitted by the Nursing Council to the University of Health Sciences. Two days ago, the Nursing Council took a statement from the children. Based on this, the PTI immediately informed the college. The Nursing Council has also directed that a meeting be convened. The meeting will be held on Tuesday.

The children currently studying there were contacted for comment but were reluctant to respond for fear of retaliation. But the former student told Mathrubhumi News that the hospital wards and toilets were being cleaned. The student added that the food at the hostel was very poor.

College Vice-Principal Sister Preeta Mary, meanwhile, denied the allegations against the college. The students did not make such a complaint even when the principal inquired directly. They told Mathrubhumi News that they are ready to correct any complaint. Four days ago, the principal went to all the classrooms and told the students that if they had a complaint, they could write anonymously. There were no such allegations in what the children wrote to the principal. The parents said that it was enough to give the phone to the children for an hour. She added that she was told not to pay on Sunday.
