Idukki: Idukki Govt. SFI activist stabbed to death in engineering college The deceased has been identified as Dheeraj Rajendran, 21, of Kannur. Students Abhijit and Amal were injured in the attack.

All the three were admitted to Idukki Medical College but Dheeraj’s life could not be saved. The body is being kept at Idukki Medical College Hospital.

It is learned that the violence took place in connection with the college union elections. Dheeraj, a seventh semester computer science student, is the son of Rajendran of Advaita, Palakulangara, Taliparamba, Kannur.

The SFI alleged that KSU-Youth Congress activists were behind the attack. Principal Jalaja said the violence took place in the presence of police on campus. The incident took place outside the college gate, the principal said.

The district panchayat member who came through was KG. The injured were rushed to the hospital in Satya’s vehicle. KG Sathyan said that Dheeraj was stabbed in the chest. Sathyan said Nikhil Paili, a Youth Congress activist who came out, was attacked and was seen fleeing.
