Coimbatore School Hosts Training Camp for Tamil Nadu Under-17 Cricket Team
The Sri Jayendra Saraswati Vidyalaya Matriculation High School recently hosted a training camp for the Tamil Nadu team players participating in the Schools Sports Group of India (SGFI) National Under-17 Cricket Tournament. The camp, which provided accommodation and food for the players, was conducted in preparation for the upcoming tournament in Patna from January 9 to 28.
SGFI is responsible for organizing various sports competitions at the national level for school students. The tournaments serve as a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent, with the players of the Tamil Nadu team selected through competitive selection, training, and sent to participate in the competition.
In addition to the training camp, the school also inaugurated a new ‘cricket net’ on the 5th, aimed at further developing the skills of students and young players. The opening ceremony saw former Tamil Nadu team player and Jayendra Saraswathi school alumnus, Kannan, and Coimbatore District Physical Education Inspector Kumaresan, inaugurating the training ground.
The camp and the new ‘cricket net’ have been instrumental in providing the Tamil Nadu team players with the necessary resources and facilities to hone their skills and prepare for the upcoming tournament, ultimately giving them the best chance at success on the national stage.
