Shah Ahmed Shafi
The government has decided to appoint Shah Ahmed Shafi as the new high commissioner of Bangladesh in South Africa.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this information in a circular on Thursday (September 12).
It is mentioned in the notification that Shah Ahmed Shafi is serving as Additional Foreign Secretary. He is a 17th batch officer of BCS (Foreign) cadre.
Prior to this he served as Director General at Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka. He also served as Senior Director Staff (Foreign Affairs) at National Defense College, Dhaka.
During his diplomatic career, he served in various positions at the Bangladesh Mission in Nairobi, Los Angeles, Paris and New Delhi. He also served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing.
Shah Ahmed Shafi has obtained Master’s Degree in Sociology from Dhaka University. He has Master’s in International Relations from International Institute of Public Administration (IIAP) in Paris. Later in 2016 he completed NDC Course (Master’s in Security and Strategic Studies) from Bangladesh National Defense College. He also attended various professional training courses at home and abroad.
