Mumbai: Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan was detained by the customs authorities for hours at the Mumbai airport. The action was taken after luxury watches were found in the luggage of Shahrukh and those who were with him. NDTV reported that the actor was released after paying customs duty of Rs 6.83 lakh.

After attending the Sharjah International Book Festival, the actor arrived at the Mumbai airport on Friday night in a private flight.

Shah Rukh Khan and his manager were allowed to leave after customs clearance, but the actor’s bodyguard and some others were allowed to leave on Saturday morning.

It is reported that six luxury watches worth Rs 18 lakh were in the luggage of the actor and his team.

In 2011, Shah Rukh Khan had to pay a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh at the Mumbai airport for excess baggage.

Shah Rukh Khan attended the Sharjah International Book Festival on Friday. The actor was presented with the Global Icon of Cinema and Cultural Narrative Award at the book festival.
