by time news

Shah Rukh Khan has once again broken records with his latest release, Jawan. The film has surpassed the opening day collection of his previous film, Pathaan, to become the biggest debut in the history of Hindi cinema. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Jawan has made approximately Rs 75 crore on its first day, with Rs 65 crore coming from the Hindi version and Rs 10 crore from the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions.

This achievement has also marked a significant milestone for Hindi films, as Jawan has become the first Hindi film to make more than Rs 60 crore on its opening day. The release of the film on Janamashtmi, a popular Hindu festival, has undoubtedly contributed to its impressive collections, which are expected to soar even higher over the weekend. Previously, Pathaan held the record with Rs 57 crore on its opening day, but it went on to earn a whopping Rs 543 crore during its run. However, Jawan is now poised to break that record, possibly surpassing the Rs 510 crore mark set by Bridge 2.

Sacnilk’s report also revealed the occupancy rates of Jawan across India on its opening day. The film recorded a 58% occupancy overall, with night shows reaching 69% and morning shows at 54%. These figures are for the Hindi version, which is also being screened in South Indian states. Interestingly, Chennai had the highest occupancy of any city in the country, with 81%. Mumbai recorded 55% occupancy throughout the day, while the NCR region saw slightly higher numbers at 60%. Meanwhile, Hyderabad and Kolkata reported occupancies of 75% and 73%, respectively.

Internationally, Jawan was released in around 10,000 screens, and Tamil language shows had a strong 70% occupancy during nighttime screenings. IMAX presentations also reported an overall occupancy rate of 61%. Pinkvilla predicts that the film will gross at least Rs 45 crore globally on its opening day, bringing its total collection to at least Rs 130 crore, considering its India gross is estimated to be around Rs 85 crore.

With these remarkable figures, Jawan has secured its place as the fourth-biggest opener in the history of Indian cinema. It trails behind RRR (Rs 223.5 crore), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 214.5 crore), and KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 164.5 crores). The film’s strong pre-sales also played a significant role in its success.

Fans and industry experts are eagerly waiting to see how Jawan continues to perform at the box office in the coming days. For more updates on the film and the latest Bollywood news, stay tuned to The Indian Express.
