The runway of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will be closed for 3 and a half hours from midnight from October 1 to October 14 for maintenance work. During this time flight will be closed.
Shahjalal Airport Executive Director Group Captain Md. Kamrul Islam confirmed the information on Sunday (September 29).
He said that the runway will be closed from 1 pm to 4:30 am for the maintenance work related to ILS category-2 in these 14 days. During this repair, all the landing and take-off operations of the airport will be temporarily suspended.
Captain Md. Kamrul Islam said, as part of the regular work of the airport’s flight operations, runway centerline lights, touch down zone lights, installation of stopway lighting system for runway-14 and 32 will be done as part of the runway maintenance work. Notum has already been issued to inform all concerned airlines and organizations.
He said that the airport authorities are advising the passengers of the airport to inform the respective airlines in advance about their respective flights and the esteemed passengers to reconfirm their flight schedule. If necessary, he suggested calling the airport call center at 13600.
Earlier, the runway was closed from 10 December 2022 to 10 June 2023 from 6 pm to 2 am daily for the construction of the new high-speed connecting taxiway at the Third Terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
