Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked said today (Thursday) that she backs the steps of Finance Minister Lieberman. “An unequivocal backing. The Israeli government’s economic leadership is being held accountable,” Shaked said in an interview with Ynet.
During the interview, Interior Minister Shaked also addressed the claims of many in the ultra-Orthodox sector about severe harm and even incitement by Finance Minister Lieberman. “This government is also doing far-reaching things for the ultra-Orthodox public that encourage them to go to work,” she said.
“Are we called anti-Semites? They are the politicians. The ultra-Orthodox public understands that the government works for them as well. They pass a recruitment law that allows them to go out to work, gives them an exemption at 21 and releases them into the labor market.
When asked if she says to the ultra-Orthodox – “Go to work”, she replied: “I say unequivocally – those who do not study from morning till night go out to work. This is important to them and the Israeli economy. There are many ultra-Orthodox parents “In the end, these programs also benefit the ultra-Orthodox sector. They give a tax credit to those who work and always work in these families. These are good and important things that the ultra-Orthodox sector also wants.”
Finally, she was asked if she was going to run for prime minister in any constellation. She said that “I do not think Bennett has finished his job. We will talk about the future in the future. In politics anything is possible.”
