Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked spoke tonight (Wednesday) at the Carmiel Dance Festival, when in her speech she first addressed the political crisis and hinted at the direction she will take in the upcoming election campaign. In her remarks, she linked the bands competing at the festival to the political situation in Israel, and hinted at the formation of a broad unity government.

“Year after year, Karmiel proves that it is possible to connect everyone. I look at the bands at the festival, and all the ensembles, and find that there are no individual dancers here, there are no solo performances here,” Shaked said. A performance of one dancer would never resemble a band moving together. “The choreography of one actor, even if it is particularly impressive, will not be equal to the performance of an entire band that rises and dances together as one man.”

She says, “In the political situation in Israel we may reach a state of polarization that could harm Israel. We mobilize together, and we must not experience polarization and division. And I ask – will we be able to put on one dance in which everyone participates? I believe there are ways to unite, connect – together”.

“I believe that you too think that we have lost our souls from all the rounds of the elections, and that we should not get into a situation where half the people feel that the country has been stolen from them – everyone should work together,” Shaked clarified. Political rivals are not enemies, and I tell everyone – let’s work together. “I believe that together it is possible to form a strong government that will engage in action, and really want to carry a prayer that the government of Israel, not a government of any kind, will be able to run as a dance troupe and not a band of wolves.”
