Lhe actions against corruption taken by the National Executive affected police and security institutions. A communication circulating on social networks, signed by the Vice Ministry of the Integrated Police System, confirms this.

The document is addressed to all police forces (national, state and municipal) and informs that, by instructions of M/G Iván Hernández Dala, first authority of the Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim), all the credentials of organic personnel and ad honoren of that body.

Experts in the area assure that the order, issued since March 29, would respond to a “power struggle” within the leadership of Nicolás Maduro. Or to an internal “cleaning” of the Dgcim, a body that has served as the president’s arm, given his close relationship with Hernández Dala.

“Far from ceasing, the internal struggle within the madurista elite has increased,” said the journalist Ibéyise Pacheco.

It appeared that the brothers Jorge and Delcy Rodríguez “advance in their plan to weaken the Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, and the director of the Dgcim with evidence of alleged complicity with Tareck El Aissami.”

“I think this is the moment of greatest vulnerability in the 10 years of Nicolás Maduro’s government,” he added.

But the national dignitary continues to place his trust in Hernández Dala who, in addition to directing the Dgcim, is Commander of the Presidential Honor Guard.

It is noteworthy that, since 2019, he has been sanctioned by the United States government for his participation in cases of alleged human rights violations during the control of the “guarimbas” in anti-government protests.

In the opinion of the president of the Casla Institute, Tamara Sujú, “nothing happens in the Dgcim without Nicolás Maduro knowing about it.”

“He is the boss. The Dgcim obeys the Presidency. Therefore, all these cards (credentials) were known to her, ”the lawyer specified on Twitter after learning of the order.

He denounced that these titles became a tool “for abuse of power, privileges, corruption and impunity” over the years.

“Several of those detained in recent days were ‘accredited’. I imagine that they will also take it away from those close to the Maduro-Flores family and the Rodríguez family,” Sujú said.

For her part, the lawyer and human rights activist, Rocío San Miguel, considered that with this document “a hunt begins” against anyone who presents a Dgcim credential.

“It seems stormy times are blowing in the State security organs and FANB, from the corruption plots,” he said.

He also explained some of the reasons why this decision would have been made.

“These types of procedures usually occur from time to time. One, it would be a way to put order at home. Two, in moments of crisis. Three, when they come out of the power group, people who had privileges, ”he argued.
