Shameful: A Hasidic was attacked in Williamsburg – the spectators took pictures and did not come to his aid

by time news

A fight over a parking space in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn turned into moments of horror today (Tuesday), when a Hasid was punched in the face – and needed stitches.

In the video taken on Division Avenue, the devotee is seen involved in a dispute with a relative of the driver he was arguing with – who claimed to have taken his parking space.

In the video, the Hasidic man is seen being pushed into a gate, before his attacker became more aggressive and punched him in the face.

An official from Williamsburg’s ‘Hashomerim’ organization told the YWN website that, to his astonishment, a number of people who watched the incident did nothing when the innocent man was beaten.

According to him, instead of helping him, the people standing around watched what was happening and even worse: they filmed the incident.

The incident is being investigated by the NYPD, but not as a hate crime. Because, contrary to the claims made, there was no evidence that the attacker was a “violent anti-Semite”.
