Shami in place of Bumrah: Change in Indian team

by time news

New Delhi: Shami has been selected to replace Bumrah, who has been ruled out of the World Cup (‘T20’) series due to injury.

The 8th season of ‘T20’ World Cup cricket starts tomorrow in Australia. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was included in the Indian team for this. However, he suffered a back injury during the T20I series against Australia, which forced him to withdraw from South Africa’s T20I and World Cup series.

Another fast bowler Mohammed Shami, 32, was selected in place of Bumrah. He had already been selected as a substitute for the World Cup. After this, Shami will join the Indian team before the practice match to be held in Brisbane. So far, he has participated in 17 T20 Internationals (18 wickets) and last played in the T20 World Cup against Namibia in Dubai last year.

Recently suffering from corona infection, Shami did not participate in the ‘T20’ series against Australia and South Africa. After recovering from this, he proved his fitness at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and was eligible to play in the World Cup.

Besides, Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur, who played well in the recent South Africa series, have been announced as replacements. They are going to Australia soon.
