New Delhi: Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth Avimukteswarananda Saraswati said that none of the four Shankaracharyas will participate in the Ram Temple consecration ceremony.
‘He will definitely go to Ayodhya if invited to the ceremony. But will not participate in the dedication ceremony. He is not anti-Modi, but Modi has politicized the temple. In an interview with The Wire, Avimukteswarananda Saraswati said that breaking religious rules to spread one’s name is rebellion against God.
The Shankaracharyas are staying away from the ceremony on the grounds that the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22 violates the rules of Sanatana Dharma. Swami Nishchalananda Saraswati, Shankaracharya of Puri Govardhanapeeth, had announced two days ago that the ceremony was being conducted against the Vedas and hence he could not participate in it.
