The Pyungang Oriental Medicine Research Institute imports the green antlers, which are the main ingredient of Gujeon Nok-yong, into Korea through an exclusive supply contract with the Russian Abaisk Farm. In particular, they visit the Abaisk Farm once a year to carefully select the green antlers, and then import them into Korea, where they process and produce them at the Jecheon factory that they directly operate.
The efficacy of green tea has already been verified several times in academic papers.
The various effective ingredients contained in green tea have been studied and their value has been recognized in leading academic papers both domestically and internationally.
According to a paper published in the Journal of Biomedical and Biomedical Analysis (JPBA), a world-renowned journal with a Scopus citation index, ‘the improvement of immune system function by velvet deer antlers has been known for a long time.’
Additionally, in the pharmacology book Shennong Bencao Jing (神農本草經), written about 2,000 years ago, it is recorded that ‘deer antlers regulate the yin and yang energies, help the spleen and kidney energies, strengthen bones and muscles, and promote blood flow.’
Dr. Seok-wook Kim, who runs the YouTube channel Han-ui Builder, said, “Deer antlers contain various minerals, amino acids, collagen, gangliocytes, and pantocrine, which can help with tissue growth, white blood cell proliferation, and normal recovery when the heart rate decreases. Pantocrine also helps improve the function of the nervous and muscular systems.” He added, “Deer antlers are the only animal whose antlers have blood flowing through them and hormones circulating. Since male deer that are used for antlers secrete active hormones during the breeding season, the source material for these hormones can be obtained from antlers.”
According to the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, King Yeongjo enjoyed eating deer antlers along with various medicinal herbs. The average life expectancy of kings at the time was 42 years, but King Yeongjo is known to have lived to the age of 82.
