Bangladesh national cricket team batsman Tawheed Hriday and pace bowler Shariful Islam have made an emotional post on social media on Tuesday calling for an end to the ongoing clashes at Dhaka University and other campuses in the country.

Quota reform movement is going on across the country. All university campuses of the country are in turmoil since yesterday. Bangladesh Chhatra League and anti-quota students are facing each other. Allegations of attacks on activists against BCL have been received from different parts of the country. So far, 5 people have been killed and many casualties have been reported in the country.

In such a situation, two cricketers of the national team called for an end to bloodshed. Tawheed Hriday wrote on Facebook, ‘I’m away from everything, so I haven’t seen much… Dhaka University of my life, don’t be bloody anymore.’

Shariful Islam wrote to Facebook, ‘Assalamu Alaikum. I am a cricketer but I am a student. I don’t want any more students to bleed.’

Both are in Sri Lanka to play in the Lankan Premier League (LPL). There was no response when contacted.
