The historic Kalba Heritage Market in Sharjah has officially reopened after undergoing restoration work. The grand reopening ceremony was held on Saturday morning and was attended by the member of the UAE Supreme Council and the ruler of Sharjah, Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi.

The market, which is a significant part of Sharjah’s heritage, was inaugurated by the Sultan himself. The Deputy Heads of the Office of the Ruler of Khorfukan, Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi and Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, were also present at the ceremony.

With 140 shops in two rows, the famous Kalba Market has been restored to reflect the traditional urban style of the city with a heritage stamp. In addition, a 570 meter long two-story wooden and plaster, architectural arch and heritage arcade has been constructed in front of all the shops.

The market is divided into two parts, with a length of 120 meters on the east side of Sheikh Saeed bin Hamad Street and a length of 470 meters on the west side of the street. To facilitate access for visitors, 473 parking spaces have been provided on the premises.

The restoration of the Kalba Heritage Market is a testament to Sharjah’s commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage. The reopening of the market is expected to attract tourists and locals alike, providing a unique and authentic shopping experience.
