Yungblud, who first admired Black Sabbath’s frontman before forging a friendship with him, celebrated the rock icon at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. His tribute coincided with receiving the Best Rock Performance award for “Changes,” a live cover of Osbourne’s song recorded at Black Sabbath’s farewell concert, Back to the Beginning, in July.
“To grow up loving an idol who helps you figure out your identity, not only as a musician, but also as a man, is something I’m really grateful for,” Yungblud said, his voice thick with emotion. He continued, “But to then get to know them and honor them at their final show and receive this [his award] is something I am struggling to comprehend, we f—–g love you Ozzy.”
As the 28-year-old performer spoke, an emotional Sharon Osbourne watched from the audience. Yungblud concluded his speech with a heartfelt recollection, stating, “The last time I saw Ozzy Osbourne, he asked me if there was anything he could do for me, and that the ‘music was enough.’ God bless Ozzy Osbourne and god bless f—–g rock music!”

A Bond Forged in Music
Yungblud and Osbourne’s connection deepened after they met in 2022, with the Black Sabbath legend becoming a mentor to the younger artist. Following Osbourne’s death, Yungblud expressed his shock, telling The Times, “I told a friend that I thought Ozzy had another five albums in him. And then he did the show and then he died. It’s so overwhelming.”
Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22 at the age of 76, surrounded by Sharon and their children. His death occurred shortly after his final performance with Black Sabbath at Villa Park, where Yungblud was also scheduled to appear.
The rock icon’s death certificate revealed the causes of death as an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction. His profession was listed as “rock legend, songwriter and performer.”
Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate Osbourne for two hours at his home before he was transported to the hospital. Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy had been married since 1982 and shared three children: Aimee, 42, Kelly, 41, and Jack, 39.
Since her husband’s passing, Sharon Osbourne has openly discussed her grief. In a recent interview on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored show, she recounted Ozzy’s final days.

She revealed that doctors warned Osbourne against performing, stating that it could be fatal. “He didn’t want to die on stage, he didn’t,” she said. “So he knew that if he went ahead with the show, it would probably kill him. I don’t know how you feel, given how painful it has been to lose him.”
Sharon also described finding Osbourne unresponsive and the agonizing moments as emergency services attempted to revive him.

According to The Sun, she recalled, “He had a heart attack. I ran downstairs, and there he was, and they were trying to resuscitate him, and I’m like, ‘Don’t – just leave him. Leave him. You can’t. He’s gone. I knew instantly he’d gone. And they tried and tried, and then they took him by helicopter to the hospital and they tried, and it’s like, ‘He’s gone. Just leave him.’”.
Sharon also shared that Ozzy dedicated up to 90 minutes each day to the cross-trainer, despite his declining health. Reflecting on their final night together, she mentioned Ozzy’s restless sleep.
“He said, ‘Kiss me’. And then he said, ‘Hug me tight’. I can’t help wondering if I should have, could I have? If only I’d have told him I loved him more. If only I’d have held him tighter. And he went downstairs, worked out for 20 minutes and passed away,” she admitted.
