On Saturday, the shooter of the Lithuanian Paralympic team started in the P2 event in Šatoru, a 3-hour drive from Paris – shooting at targets from a distance of 10 meters with an air pistol.

Raimeda Bučinskytė collected 536 points in the selection and recorded the 15th result among 20 athletes in the qualification. The eight athletes who performed best in the selection made it to the finals.

“The difference between the Paralympic Games and other competitions is huge. I don’t know if I didn’t know how to handle myself here, because I thought that now I have to show my best result. It’s demanding, and I think I’ve overburdened myself. But now that I’ve experienced the same high, I think I’ll learn to handle myself better. I think it is very important to understand that all competitions are the same, not to stress and to do the same as always, to do the best you can”, said R. Bučinskytė, a shooter of the Lithuanian Paralympic team, immediately after the competition.

Soon, R. Bučinskytė received unpleasant news from the judges of the competition – the result of the Lithuanian was not counted, because her weapon did not pass the control. The specific reason is that the pistol trigger does not support 500 grams of weight.

“I guess it could have happened because of the stuffiness and humidity in the shooting range today. I did not adjust the gun at all before the start. When I arrived in France, I gave it away and took it only before training. This is the first time I have been disqualified for such a reason. But this happens even to the best athletes. It happens that the weapon is also damaged by flights, when the tool freezes or is affected by other climatic conditions.

I wouldn’t say I was very nervous. It would be completely different if I had reached the final. Then there would be a lot more emotions. And now I can only say that it will be time for this weapon to go to another owner. I have two new weapons at home, but I didn’t dare to experiment and change it before Paris. Now I will definitely change and start shooting with a new one, and I will say goodbye to this one,” said R. Bučinskytė.

For Raimeda, these games are the first in her career, the Šiauliai went to Paris as European vice-champion.

Edgar Mataks will compete for the Paralympic medal on Saturday evening. The prize winner of the Tokyo Paralympic Games, coached by Ramūnas Leon, will swim in the final of the S11 class meter event.

In the qualifying competition that took place in the morning, the man from Kaunas covered the distance in 26.75 seconds, he was fourth in his swim, and among all the swimmers who participated in the 13th qualification, he showed the fifth time. Czech athlete David Kratočvilas was the fastest in the selection, who swam in 26.04 seconds.
