Aslahan Mehmedova: “Imane Khalif Doesn’t Belong in the Olympics”
Aslahan Mehmedova, a renowned women’s boxer, recently expressed her strong opinions on the controversy surrounding Imane Khalif’s participation in the Olympics.
Mehmedova first faced Khalif in 2018 and emerged victorious. She believes the current situation surrounding Khalif’s biological sex is unfair to other female boxers.
“I don’t think women’s boxing is equal after these things that happened. I don’t think he has a place in the final at all,” Mehmedova stated. “They should not have been allowed to the Olympics at all.”
The boxer expressed suspicion about Khalif’s appearance, stating, “visually, it’s a man.” She also shared her experience sparring with Khalif, describing a significant physical difference.
Mehmedova’s comments come after the International Boxing Association (IBA) announced tests revealing potential discrepancies in Khalif’s biological sex. The details of these tests remain confidential.
Despite the controversy, Mehmedova encourages athletes to continue pursuing their dreams and reaching their full potential. She hopes to face Khalif again in the future.
