The actress Jill Jacobson has died at the age of 70. Jacobson was born in 1954 and, after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, made her film debut in 1977 in the title role of the cult horror film “Nurse Sherri,” directed by Al Adamson. She rose to fame in the 80s for her role as Erin Jones in the prime time soap “Falcon Crest.”
The actress later appeared in “The New Gidget”, a sequel to the sitcom in which Sally Field once played her first role. She also appeared in many other productions such as “Star Trek: The Next Century”, “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”, “Time of Desire”, “Ghost Whisperer – Voices from the Beyond” and “Castle”.
Jacobson reportedly died on December 8, 2024, at Culver West Health Center in Culver City, California. According to her friend and publicist Dan Harary, she succumbed to a long illness. Earlier this year, Jacobson announced that he had overcome a two and a half year battle with esophageal cancer.
A statement from the Jacobson family said: “She will be greatly missed by many relatives, friends and her beloved dogs Benny and Kowalski.” Her close friend and “The New Gidget” co-star, Caryn Richman, also remembered her: “Jill’s comedic timing was brilliant. And her enthusiasm and zest for life made our time together a pleasure.”
