Princess Kate has withdrawn from the public eye. Now she was spotted in Windsor, shortly after a photo caused a media scandal.
The Commonwealth service took place in London on Monday afternoon. Royals such as Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie also took part. King Charles III was not present. However, the monarch, who was suffering from cancer, spoke out via video message on the occasion of Commonwealth Day.
Princess Kate was also not officially announced for the service. However, the 42-year-old was seen leaving Windsor Castle in a black car with her husband, Prince William, on Monday.
Princess Kate had a “private appointment”
However, Prince William entered Westminster Abbey, where the Commonwealth service was taking place, alone. As Rebecca English, the aristocracy expert of the “Daily Mail”, writes, Princess Kate is said to have had a “private appointment”.
Kensington Palace also announced weeks ago that the 42-year-old would not return to her royal duties until after Easter. Princess Kate had to undergo abdominal surgery in January.
Media scandal over Instagram photo
On Sunday, a photo of her was published on Instagram for the first time. The snapshot showed her with her three children. With the post, Kate wanted to wish everyone a happy Mother’s Day.
A few hours later, however, the recording caused a stir. Several news outlets had withdrawn the image. It doesn’t meet standards because the image looks like it has been manipulated.
On Monday, Kensington Palace released a statement from Kate: “Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally experiment with editing.” She also apologized for the confusion “caused by the family photo we shared yesterday.”
